Taste Hawaii at San Francisco’s Farmers Market
Chef Alan Wong will visit San Francisco’s famous Ferry Plaza Farmers Market to conduct a cooking demonstration and signing. Hawai‘i food historian Arnold Hiura (Kau Kau: Cuisine & Culture in the Hawaiian Islands) will accompany Chef Alan to provide market shoppers with background information on Hawai‘i’s unique culinary landscape. See how Chef Alan transforms locally-sourced farmers market ingredients into white tablecloth fare, influenced by the flavors of simple Hawai‘i favorites. Below, li hing mui “crack seed” (left), a beloved Hawai‘i snack, is the basis of Chef Alan’s signature li hing dressing served on tomato salad (right).
Chef Alan and Arnold will also sign copies of their books immediately following the demonstration.
